In addition, Gresham High School values and promotes these community-wide expectations: Respect, Excellence, Accountability, and Leadership (R.E.A.L.). These qualities are expected of all GHS students and staff.
- To improve students’ knowledge and skills in the areas of reading, writing, math, and science.
- To improve students’ overall performance and year-to-year gains on Oregon’s Assessment of Knowledge and Skills.
- To establish a college-ready culture for all students by implementing strategies that support and motivate students as they prepare for their post-high school plans.
- To create a positive school climate that (A) encourages caring, respectful relationships, (B) holds students accountable for their attendance, (C) creates a sense of ownership in our school, and (D) generates a feeling of school pride and belonging to our school community.
Gresham High School is special because we constantly strive for improvement. This constant focus on improvement is based on our long history and tradition of preparing students for the future. For over 100 years we have offered positive opportunities for students to achieve personal and academic success. Gresham High staff members are committed to helping students learn to use their minds, hearts, and hands well. We do this through high expectations, personalized teaching and learning, and emphasis on the mastery and demonstration of essential skills and concepts. Our school culture relies on a foundation of shared leadership and decision-making, a high degree of professional accountability, a focus on student achievement, and a widely held commitment to promoting a climate that values respect, trust, integrity, and individual dignity throughout the school community.
